Hookah Etiquette in Nassau: A First-Timer's Guide
Everything you need to know before your first hookah session in Nassau — flavors, pricing, group sizing, and how to pair it with kava or matcha at Rootz.
Hookah is one of the most social drinks-not-drinks experiences in Nassau, but if you've never sat for a session it can feel a little mysterious. Here's the quick guide we wish every first-time guest at Rootz had before they walked in.
Pricing is simple
At Rootz, hookah is $45 for the first head and $28 per refill. One setup easily carries a group of three to five through 60–90 minutes of conversation. No cover, no minimum.
Pick the right flavor
Our setup is the Smokezilla Minya in Rose Gold — a sleek, modern hookah that pulls smooth and consistent — packed with Adalya, a premium Turkish shisha brand known for long sessions and clean smoke. Two house favorites:
- Skyfall — blueberry, lemon, mint. Bright, refreshing, perfect for warm Nassau evenings.
- Love 66 — watermelon, peach, melon. Sweet and crowd-pleasing — easy first-timer choice.
Pair it with a drink
Hookah hits different when you've got the right pour next to it. Most guests pair with a Traditional Kava in a clay cup for a calm, grounded session, a Green Vein K-Tea for stimulation, or an iced matcha for clean energy.
Lounge etiquette basics
- Hoses get a fresh tip per guest — ask for extras if you need them.
- Keep the coal tray on the table; our staff will rotate coals on request.
- Hookah is 18+ with valid ID.
Walk in any night to Elizabeth on Bay Plaza, Downtown Nassau. We'll set you up.
